Bihar: Doctors Retrieve Mobile Phone From Prisoner’s Stomach In Patna.

A mobile phone was retrieved from the stomach of a prisoner who had swallowed it on Saturday for fear of being caught during a police raid in Patna’s Gopalganj prison.

Patna (Bihar): Doctors at Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS) were able to successfully retrieve a mobile phone from the stomach of a prisoner who had swallowed it on Saturday for fear of being caught during a police raid in Gopalganj prison. Once the prisoner was rushed to the hospital it was on the advice of Dr Ahish K Jha prisoner was told to go for a blood test and X-ray. Following the test results, a team of doctors decided to use an endoscopic machine. Dr Manish Mandal, Medical Superintendent, IGIMS stated that this was the first time a gadget of this size was retrieved without any surgical interference with the help of an endoscopic machine on Wednesday.

This incident unfolded when the prisoner (Qasair Ali) started to feel pain in his abdomen on Sunday after swallowing his phone for fear of getting caught by jail authorities.

When Jail authorities got to know about this development they rushed him to the hospital where confirmation of a foreign object in his stomach was done. As per the reports, the prisoner was talking on the phone when a team of Jail Prisons was conducting surprise checks inside.

After looking at them prisoner swallowed the phone to avoid getting caught. Later, he informed prison officials of abdominal pain, after which an XRay test confirmed the presence of foreign objects in his stomach. In 2020 Gopalganj police arrested Qasair Ali on the alleged charges of smuggling narcotics near Hajiyapur Village in Bareilly city of Uttar Pradesh.

Ali was arrested under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS Act) and is in jail for the last three years. It has to be noted that the usage of mobile phones is not allowed in Indian Prisons. (Zee News)

Except possibility of morning showers, hot and dry weather to continue in J&K: MeT

Srinagar, Sept 15(GNS): The weatherman on Friday forecast “hot and dry” weather to continue in Jammu and Kashmir for a week ahead.

According to a meteorological department official, light to moderate rain and thunderstorm occurred at scattered places of J&K .

“Except brief spell of morning rain, weather is very likely to remain hot and dry in Jammu and Kashmir during the next 24 hours,” the official told GNS, adding, “Day temperature was likely to remain 1-2°C lower than yesterday.”

Regarding the forecast from September 16-22, he said, the weather was mainly going to be hot and dry but a brief spell of rain at isolated to scattered places of J&K cannot be ruled out.

“Due to absence of any strong Western Disturbance or Monsoon Current over J&K, there’s no forecast of major rain for a week, at least.”(GNS)

Budgam duo on Scooty die on spot after being hit by a Sumo

Baramulla, Sep 12, KNT: Two persons, one who was driving the Scooty and the pillion rider died on the spot after being hit by a speeding Sumo in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Tuesday.

The mishap took place in Hairath Singhpora area of Pattan.

Sources told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that a Sumo (JK15-0782) hit a Scooty ( JK04-E4493). The driver of the Scooty and pillion rider died on the spot. They said both were taken to hospital where doctors declared them brought dead.

The deceased have been identified as Faizian Mushtaq Ganai of Chandakot Bala Magam and Riyaz Sajad Mala, a resident of Yagipora Magam.

Police seized the Sumo, arrested driver and registered a case under relevant sections of law. [KNT]
