JKBOSE to release subject wise date sheet for classes 10th to 12th

Srinagar, Feb 05: For the examination of class 10th to 12th, Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education is going to release a subject-wise date sheet in the coming days.
The exams for class 10th, 11th and 12th will start from 4 March and the date sheet will be issued 15 days prior to the exams, said Joint Secretary Administration, Aijaz Ahmad Hakak
As the subject-wise date-sheet will be released in this month, he said that the arrangements for the exam are in place.
“The date-sheet is being finalized. The arrangements will also be made,” he said.
To streamline the academic calendar in J&K and Ladakh with the rest of the country, last year the administration of Jammu and Kashmir announced a uniform academic calendar, wherein the annual examination will be held in the month of March- April instead of October-November.
This is the first time the students of Jammu and Kashmir will be taking exams in the month of March-April.
Earlier, the order in this regard had been issued by Principal Secretary to the Government School Education Department, Alok Kumar and follows recommendations of a committee formed for the purpose.
On 30th April last year, the committee for implementation of Uniform Academic Calendar was constituted for both the Divisions of Jammu and Kashmir in sync with the Higher Education Department and the rest of the country.
The committee said that the theory examination in Jammu and Kashmir be conducted from 1st week of March as per the present academic calendar of Jammu Summer Zone (except in difficult areas of Jammu region) and some areas of Kashmir region.
The committee also said that the examination in these difficult areas shall be delayed and held from 2nd week of April as per the calendar proposed when these areas are fully accessible and the delivery of the examination stationary and confidential material is ensured.
“Even though if examination in these difficult areas shall be conducted separately, the result of these examination can he declared simultaneously, as although the ‘difficult’ areas’ constitutes of approx. 30-35% of the area the J&K, the total number of students from these areas is not more than approx. 10-12%,” said the committee.
According to the Uniform Academic Calendar, the students who appear in Class 10th and 11th examinations shall be provisionally admitted in Class 11th and 12th respectively after the board examinations are conducted.
Those students who fail to pass the exam, shall be permitted to continue their studies in Class 11th and 12th till the result of the Biannual/Annual Private examinations are declared. In respect of the candidates who fail to pass in bi-annual examination, provisional admission shall be cancelled. (Rising Kashmir)

Weatherman predicts snowfall as fresh WD to affect J&K tomorrow

‘Surface, air traffic, power supply likely to get affected’

Srinagar, Jan 28 (KNO): The weatherman here has predicted fresh snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir, saying that a fresh Western Disturbance is affecting the Union Territory from tomorrow.
Talking to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Deputy Director Meteorological department (MeT) said that there is a possibility of fresh snowfall in J&K, especially in the higher reaches of the Union Territory.
He said that the main activity would be from January 29 evening or night, adding that the wet weather conditions are expected in J&K parts from tomorrow, which would continue till January 31.
The wet weather is expected till the end of this month, which marks the end of 40-day harshest winter period-Chila-i-Kalan.
Meanwhile, the MeT has issued yellow warning for J&K on January 30
The MeT said that widespread moderate snow or Rain is expected in Jammu with heavy snowfall in Pirpanjal, South Kashmir, Doda-Kistawar and other areas.
On Jan 31, there is a possibility of light to moderate snowfall at scattered places.
It further added that the fresh snow spell may cause snow avalanches in avalanche prone areas during the above period.
It may also affect surface and Air transportation on January 30, adding that the power supply would also get affected.
The MeT advised people not to venture out in avalanche prone areas, unless emergency and also appealed intending passengers to travel after confirmation of road status from concerned Traffic Police.
Moreover, the traffic on Srinagar-Jammu highway remained affected for 34 minutes today due to shooting stones at Mehar Passi.
The officials said that the highway was open for vehicular movement and was closed for only 34 minutes due to shooting stones at Mehar Passi.
However, the Mughal Road and Srinagar-Jammu highway continued to remain closed for the vehicular movement since the first week of this month—(KNO)
