UP PCS Exam 2022: Women bag 8 out top 10 positions

Women have dominated the top positions in the UP Provincial Civil Services (UP PCS) examinations-2022, with eight of the top 10 positions being held by women. Divya Sikarwar from Agra achieved first place, Pratiksha Pandey from Lucknow took second place, Namrata Singh from Bulandshahar third, and Akanksha Gupta from Uttaranchal was fourth

Prayagraj: In a historic feat, women have bagged eight out of top 10 positions in UP Provincial Civil Services (UP PCS) examinations-2022. Results were declared on Friday evening with women taking top 4 slots and 50% of SDM seats. Besides, there are 12 women in top 20.

While Divya Sikarwar of Agra has topped the exam, Pratiksha Pandey of Lucknow is the second topper, Namrata Singh of Bulandshahar has come third and Akanksha Gupta of Uttaranchal is fourth. Only fifth and tenth positions have gone to male candidates.

The success story of the female candidates does not stop here, as among the top 20 positions in the overall merit list, 12 are women .

For the coveted post of SDM, 19 women have cleared the merit list while 20 are male candidates. Likewise, for the post of deputy SP, there are 26 females and 67 males.

Out of 364 successful candidates, 110 (30.22%) are female while 254 are males.

The result of the main examinations was declared on February 9, 2023, following which 1,071 candidates were declared successful for the interview. The interview of the said candidates was conducted by the Commission from February 20 to March 21 in which 23 candidates remained absent.

Commenting on the commendable performance of the female candidates, an official spokesperson said, “The UPPSC has completed the selection process of the prestigious state administrative service – PCS with quality, accuracy, transparency and time punctuality and declared its result in 10 months.”

“Our daughters are our pride and this principle has been proven by seeing the result of PCS-2022 where eight girls have their names in the top 10 which is a wonderful example of women empowerment. Every district of UP is representing itself with pride in this selection process,” he added.

Akanksha Gupta of Uttaranchal has bagged the fourth position while Kumar Gaurav of Ambedkar Nagar is at number five. Likewise, Sultana Praveen of Lucknow has bagged sixth position while Mohsina Bano of Madhya Pradesh is at number seven.

Among the lone merit-holders from Prayagraj in the top 10 positions, Prajakta Tripathi is that number eight. The 9th position has been bagged by Aishwarya Dubey of Agra and Sandeep Kumar Tiwari of Gonda is at 10th.

Against a total of 383 vacancies of 30 different types of posts in the examination, 364 candidates have been declared successful. One vacancy of management officer, state property department, 16 administrator of state property department and two vacancies of chemist, khadi and village industries board have remained unfilled due to non-availability of suitable candidates.

Of the 364 declared successful candidates, the selection of 53 candidates is provisional due to lack of certain records. “Prov” is marked against the candidates declared provisionally successful, mentions the press release issued by the Commission. The result has been pasted on the notice board of the Commission’s office for public viewing.

The result is also available on the website of UP Public Service Commission http://uppsc.up.nic.in

The recommendations of the selected candidates will be sent to the government immediately and after that the candidates’ marks and post-wise/category-wise cut-off marks will also be displayed on the Commission’s website as soon as possible.

Except possibility of morning showers, hot and dry weather to continue in J&K: MeT

Srinagar, Sept 15(GNS): The weatherman on Friday forecast “hot and dry” weather to continue in Jammu and Kashmir for a week ahead.

According to a meteorological department official, light to moderate rain and thunderstorm occurred at scattered places of J&K .

“Except brief spell of morning rain, weather is very likely to remain hot and dry in Jammu and Kashmir during the next 24 hours,” the official told GNS, adding, “Day temperature was likely to remain 1-2°C lower than yesterday.”

Regarding the forecast from September 16-22, he said, the weather was mainly going to be hot and dry but a brief spell of rain at isolated to scattered places of J&K cannot be ruled out.

“Due to absence of any strong Western Disturbance or Monsoon Current over J&K, there’s no forecast of major rain for a week, at least.”(GNS)

Budgam duo on Scooty die on spot after being hit by a Sumo

Baramulla, Sep 12, KNT: Two persons, one who was driving the Scooty and the pillion rider died on the spot after being hit by a speeding Sumo in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Tuesday.

The mishap took place in Hairath Singhpora area of Pattan.

Sources told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that a Sumo (JK15-0782) hit a Scooty ( JK04-E4493). The driver of the Scooty and pillion rider died on the spot. They said both were taken to hospital where doctors declared them brought dead.

The deceased have been identified as Faizian Mushtaq Ganai of Chandakot Bala Magam and Riyaz Sajad Mala, a resident of Yagipora Magam.

Police seized the Sumo, arrested driver and registered a case under relevant sections of law. [KNT]
